## **Block**

{% hint style="info" %}
A ***block*** is an abstract model with which you define the structure of a piece of content.

Each *block* is made up of one or more *elements*.
{% endhint %}

For example, if you are creating a *block* for a blog article, you would create a model presumably composed of:

* A **textarea** *element* for the title
* A **markdown** *element* for the actual content
* An **image** image *element* for the featured image
* A **dropdown** *element* to create and pick categories for your articles

## **Section**

{% hint style="info" %}
A ***Section*** represents the *block* when it has been filled with its content
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
When you create the *block* for a blogpost and add content to it, you get a *section*
{% endhint %}

## **Element**

{% hint style="info" %}
With the term ***Element***, we identify the fields that make up a certain block.
{% endhint %}

For instance, if the *block* is the model for a blog post, its *elements* could be a **text area**, **media**, **images**, **link** etc.

# Create a Project

{% hint style="info" %}
During the on-boarding phase, we will prompt you to create a new **project** directly
{% endhint %}

You can enter the name of your project (e.g. "MBurger web site" or "Silicon Valley Mobile App") and click the **Create** button to create your first MBurger project.

![](/files/-MDnXURNswAYcF5ZsguE)

{% hint style="success" %}
Well done!
{% endhint %}

Now let's move on to:

* [ ] Invite your team to collaborate on the project and set permissions for each user 🏀
* [ ] Generate your API key 🔗
* [ ] Create some blocks and get started with MBurger! :rocket:

# Create a Block

{% hint style="info" %}
Once you've created your first project, you can create your first ***block***
{% endhint %}

In the left side menu, under "Block" click on **+ add Block**

![](/files/-MD_KRIObCmq3-SCIFzE)

It appears a central pop-up, in which you can add your Block's name (e.g. News, Blog, Products) and choose an icon.

Click on **Create** and your first block will be ready to be customized.💥

![](/files/-MD_J41SWasEnywzr-xM)

{% hint style="success" %}
In the main menu on the left 👈, you will see your newly created block.
{% endhint %}

Your dashboard will redirect you to the page where you can actually define the structure of the Block by adding Elements and defining their properties.

![](/files/-MDobs9J8UKEKRPJtgvC)

# How to modify the model of an existing block?

{% hint style="success" %}
You can modify the block model, or the model / structure of your content, at any time.
{% endhint %}

To do it is very simple.

1. First of all, click on the **name of the Block** you want to modify that you find in the left sidebar
2. Then click **Content Structure**, the second item on the tab
3. You will be redirected to the page that allows you to edit the content model. In the left part of the page you can modify the model by going to remove, add or modify each Element. In the right column, however, you can change the configuration of your Block, such as the Name, Description, Icon, Features, etc ...
4. Once the modification is complete, click on the **Save** button.

# Model your content

{% hint style="info" %}
Once you've created a new block, define the **Content Structure** and click on **+ add element**
{% endhint %}

![](/files/-MD_4CXiOlq0ChfJpAsN)

At this point, you can define:

* 🗂 **Type**: choose the Element type you prefer;

![](/files/-MD_66b64vLo52JWGbfY)

* **🔁 Block type**: divided into “Single” or “Repeatable”
* ℹ️ **Block info**: write the Block's title and subtitle

![](/files/-MD_4aQMtzzqf2tbPSYW)

# Features

![](/files/-MD_4dk4_7ZsC3DEFjjE)

# Settings

Fill out the following forms:

* **Pagination**: you can define the number of sections you want to retrieve with each API call;

{% hint style="info" %}
👾 Tips: if you select a too high number the upload may be slow
{% endhint %}

* **Validate all locales**: if selected, you will apply the "required" setting to all locales (i.e. languages). Instead, if the box is unchecked, elements will be checked only in the default language.

{% hint style="success" %}
Finally, you can view the content in JSON format 👨🏻‍💻 and export it ⬇️
{% endhint %}
